The Superintendent must create an Advisory Board on Women at the Coast Guard Academy made up of at least 12 current cadets, with at least 3 cadets from each class. Cadets are appointed by the Superintendent no later than 60 days after a new class is sworn in and serve 1 academic year; the Superintendent may reappoint up to 6 cadets for a second year. The board must meet the Commandant at least once and the Superintendent in person at least twice each academic year. The board will find opportunities and problems facing women cadets, including culture, leadership development, and access to health care. It can form working groups that include other cadets. The board must regularly report to and brief the Commandant and the Superintendent, in writing or in person.
