The Secretary decides when review boards meet to look over the records of officers who were recommended for removal. If a board finds the officer did not prove they should stay, the board sends its recommendation to the Secretary for a decision. If the board finds the officer should stay, the case is closed, but the officer can be asked to show cause again after one year for cases under clause (1) of section 2158 and at any time for cases under clause (2) of that section.
