The Secretary can sell Coast Guard land or buildings at fair market value for cash and must put the money into the Coast Guard Housing Fund (established by section 2946). The proceeds can only be used to buy and build military family housing and housing for unaccompanied service members. Those sales must not reduce the Coast Guard’s ability to do its missions and should help support mission-related housing needs. All sales must follow environmental laws, including 42 U.S.C. 9620(h).
