The Commandant can work with the Administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to protect life and property and to help keep commerce safe on the high seas and U.S. waters. To do that, the Commandant may provide and maintain facilities and help for watching, studying, and sharing weather data, forecasts, and warnings, under terms both agree to.
