Title 15 › Chapter 47— CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY › § 2057a
Butyl nitrite is banned as a hazardous product, but people may still make, sell, ship, or import it for business uses or for any use that the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act allows. A "commercial use" does not include making consumer products that people inhale or put into their bodies to get high or for other physical effects. "Butyl nitrite" means n‑butyl, isobutyl, secondary butyl, tertiary butyl, and mixtures of these. The rule took effect 90 days after November 18, 1988.
