Title 15 › Chapter 6— WEIGHTS AND MEASURES AND STANDARD TIME › Subchapter III— STANDARD GAUGE FOR IRON AND STEEL › § 206
Sets one official gauge system for sheet and plate iron and steel in the United States. The law gives a table of specific gauges and the matching thicknesses and weights. Those measurements are shown in fraction inches, decimal inches, millimeters, ounces per square foot, pounds per square foot, kilograms per square foot, kilograms per square meter, and pounds per square meter. Only the gauges and numbers in that table may be used to calculate U.S. duties and taxes on sheet and plate iron and steel. The rule does not increase the import duties on any goods.
