Title 15 › Chapter 50— CONSUMER PRODUCT WARRANTIES › § 2311
Keeps other laws and consumer rights in place. It does not cancel or replace the Federal Trade Commission Act or any antitrust law. It also does not replace the Federal Seed Act and does not apply to seed meant for planting. Consumers keep any rights they have under state law or other federal laws. Except for sections 2308 and 2304(a)(2) and (4), this law does not change who can be held responsible for personal injury or override state rules about damages for injury. Rules a state makes about warranty labels or disclosures, or rules that deal with the same topics covered by sections 2302, 2303, and 2304, are generally replaced by this law if they are not identical. A state rule can still apply if the state asks the FTC and the FTC finds the rule gives more protection to consumers and does not unduly burden interstate commerce, and the state enforces it. If federal law already governs the making or content of a written warranty, that federal law controls; if only part is covered by federal law, the rest follows this law.
