Title 15 › Chapter 8— FALSELY STAMPED GOLD OR SILVER OR GOODS MANUFACTURED THEREFROM › § 294
No manufacturer, wholesaler, retailer, or their officers, managers, directors, or agents who make or sell gold or silver items may import, export, put in the U.S. mail, hand to a carrier for shipment, or move across state lines any article made after June 13, 1907 that is wholly or partly of gold, silver, or their alloys if it carries any mark, label, tag, or packaging claim saying the metal is purer than it actually is. The purity claims are judged by the standards in sections 295 and 296.
