Defines key words used in the subchapter. Contaminant means any physical, chemical, biological, or radiological thing found in water. Contaminant of emerging concern, or emerging contaminant, means a contaminant for which the Administrator has not set a national primary drinking water rule and that may harm people’s health. Federal research strategy means the cross-agency plan made by the Office of Science and Technology Policy to fill research gaps about detecting, measuring exposure to, and finding health effects of emerging contaminants in drinking water, done in response to the Senate Appropriations Committee report accompanying S. 1662 of the 115th Congress (S. Rept. 115–139). Technical assistance and support covers lab help (choosing, understanding, and fixing methods), advice on lab certification, reading results, training, finding treatment tech, and doing sample analyses when they cannot be practically obtained elsewhere and a federal facility has the needed capacity. Working Group means the group established under section 8952(b)(1) of this title.
