Title 16 › Chapter 36— FOREST AND RANGELAND RENEWABLE RESOURCES PLANNING › Subchapter IV— WOOD RESIDUE UTILIZATION › § 1682
The Secretary can create pilot projects and demonstrations to carry out the goals of this part of the law. These projects can be run by the Secretary or done under contracts or agreements with private forest owners or other people, or combined with other projects the Secretary already has. Existing contracts, including national forest timber sale contracts, cannot be changed unless all parties agree. Examples of projects include setting up areas that show how forest products can be used, creating fuelwood collection and distribution centers, and building access roads to help use leftover wood. Credits for removing wood residue can only be used as allowed in section 1683.
