Title 16 › Chapter 1— NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter XXII— LASSEN VOLCANIC NATIONAL PARK › § 204c
Hunting, killing, wounding, or capturing any wild bird or animal in the park is forbidden, except when a dangerous animal must be killed to protect people. Fish can only be taken from park waters with a hook and line, and only at the seasons, times, and in the ways set by the Secretary of the Interior. The Secretary of the Interior must make and publish the park rules needed to manage and protect park property, including timber, mineral deposits (except those legally located before August 9, 1916), natural curiosities, and the park’s animals and fish. Having a dead wild bird or animal in the park is taken as proof that someone broke the rules. People or transport companies who know or should know an animal or fish was taken illegally and who move it are guilty. Anyone who damages park buildings, fences, trees, gardens, springs, mineral deposits (except those claimed before August 9, 1916), or other park things, or who breaks the Secretary’s rules, is guilty of a minor crime and can be fined up to $500, jailed up to six months, or both, and must pay court costs.
