The Secretary must, within five years after December 2, 1980, review whether every land inside Alaska units of the National Park System and the National Wildlife Refuge System that was not designated wilderness by this Act should be kept as wilderness. The review must follow the public notice, public hearing, and State/agency review rules in section 1132(d), and the Secretary must report the results to the President. The Secretary’s work and the President’s recommendations must follow sections 1132(c) and (d). The President must tell the United States Senate and House of Representatives his recommendations within seven years after December 2, 1980. Current management of any park or refuge unit stays the same unless and until Congress acts on those Presidential recommendations.
