Title 16 › Chapter 1— NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter LII— ISLE ROYALE NATIONAL PARK › § 408i
The United States takes sole legal control over land set aside as Isle Royale National Park as of March 6, 1942, and over any land added later. Michigan still may serve civil or criminal legal papers in the park for cases tied to rights, debts, or crimes that happened outside the park. Michigan can tax people, companies, and property there. Park residents keep the right to vote in their county. Fugitives who hide in the park are treated the same as fugitives found elsewhere in Michigan.
