§408k Hunting and Fishing; General Rules and Regulations; Protection of Property; Violation of Statutes or Rules; Penalties

Summary

Hunting, killing, wounding, or capturing any wild bird or animal inside the park is not allowed, except when a dangerous animal must be killed to stop it from killing or seriously hurting a person. Fish cannot be taken out of park waters unless done at the seasons, times, and in the ways the Secretary of the Interior sets. The Secretary must make and publish rules for running and protecting the park, including protecting trees, minerals, natural features, animals, birds, and fish. Having the dead body or a part of a wild bird or animal in the park is taken as proof that someone broke the rules. Any person or transport company that knows or reasonably should know those animals were taken illegally and accepts them for transport is guilty. Anyone who breaks the park rules or damages park property can be charged with a misdemeanor and fined up to $500, jailed up to six months, or both, and ordered to pay the court costs.
