Title 16 › Chapter 1— NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter V— YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK › § 40a
Under rules set by the Secretary of the Interior, money from Yellowstone National Park visitor fees may be paid to the local school district(s) that serve the park. These payments are reimbursement for school buildings and services, including student transportation, for children of park workers who live on nearby federal land that is not taxed and for which the United States does not make payments instead of taxes. For each school year, the payment cannot be more than the portion of the schools’ operating and maintenance costs that matches the share of average daily attendance made up by those park-dependent pupils.
