Title 16 › CHAPTER 1 — NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › SUBCHAPTER LIX–DDD — WEIR FARM NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK › § 410ffff–4
The Secretary must run the historical park under the laws that apply to National Park units and historic preservation, including the 1916 National Park Service Act and the 1935 historic preservation Act. The Secretary must not act on the 60 acres owned by the State of Connecticut inside the park until the State transfers all right, title, and interest in that land to the Secretary. The Secretary can work with groups such as the Weir Farm Heritage Trust, the State of Connecticut, the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the Nature Conservancy, and the towns of Ridgefield and Wilton to plan and fund art exhibits, resident artist programs, preservation work, and to coordinate activities with nearby conserved and town-owned lands. The Secretary can also display or accept artworks linked to J. Alden Weir, the Weir Farm, and the American Impressionist movement when needed to interpret the park. Within 2 complete fiscal years after October 31, 1990, the Secretary must submit a general management plan to the Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs of the United States House of Representatives and to the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the United States Senate. The plan must be prepared under section 100502 of title 54 and other applicable law.
