States whose troops fought at Petersburg may enter Petersburg National Battlefield to mark battle lines. Before permanent markers are set, the proposed lines and markers, including designs and inscriptions, need written approval from the Secretary of the Interior based on written reports by battlefield commissioners. Any grant to one State can be used by any other.
