§430g–8 Advisory Commission

Summary

Creates the Gettysburg National Military Park Advisory Commission with eleven members. Five members represent the local governments (one from each of the four townships around the park and one from the Borough of Gettysburg). One member represents Adams County government. One represents Pennsylvania’s State Historic Preservation Office. Two are Adams County residents who know the park (one must own land or land interests inside the park). One has local historic preservation expertise. The Director of the National Park Service, or someone the Director chooses, is also a member. The Secretary, or the Secretary’s designee, must meet and consult with the Commission at least semiannually to coordinate park and historic district management with local governments. The Commission must hold regular public meetings, announce meetings and agendas in local newspapers that cover the area, and hold meetings so the public can take part. Members are not paid a salary, but the Secretary may reimburse reasonable expenses if approved by the Chairperson. The rules in section 1013 of title 5 do not apply to this Commission.
