Title 16 › Chapter 1— NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter LXIV— RECREATIONAL DEMONSTRATION PROJECTS › § 459u
The Secretary of the Interior can allow grantees who received recreational demonstration project lands under sections 459r to 459t to trade or otherwise dispose of those lands to get other lands of about the same value. The Secretary can remove a clause that would make the land return to the United States for the specific lands swapped, but only if the grantee agrees, in a form the Secretary approves, that the new lands will be bound by the same original conditions. Instead of an automatic return, the grantee must agree to convey the lands back to the United States if the Secretary, using the same procedure in those sections, finds the grantee has failed to follow the conditions for more than three years. Lands returned this way will be handled the same as lands that revert under those sections.
