Title 16 › CHAPTER 1 — NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › SUBCHAPTER CXIII — SMITH RIVER NATIONAL RECREATION AREA › § 460bbb–2
Creates the Smith River National Recreation Area to protect the watershed’s special wild and scenic rivers, its ecological diversity, and recreation while allowing sensible use of its natural resources. The recreation area is shown on a map labeled as the proposed Smith River National Recreation Area dated July 1990, which is on file at the Office of the Chief of the Forest Service in the Department of Agriculture. The Secretary of Agriculture can publish a revised map and, after public comment, make small boundary fixes. The outer line on the map includes the recreation area and four excluded spots. The map also changes the boundary of the Six Rivers National Forest. A map and legal description of that new forest boundary are on file at the Office of the Chief of the Forest Service and at the Office of the Forest Supervisor of the Six Rivers National Forest. Federal land inside the recreation area that the Secretary of the Interior managed on November 16, 1990, totaling approximately 20 acres, is transferred to the Secretary of Agriculture and must be managed under National Forest System law and this subchapter.
