§460lll–45 Transfer of Personal Property

Summary

Within 60 days after the transfer, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) must give the Secretary a list of all property and facilities at the Recreation Area. TVA property used to run the Recreation Area and bought with federal money can be transferred. That includes buildings, office furniture and equipment, computers, vehicles, tools and maintenance supplies, boats and engines, and publications. The Secretary can leave out movable items if TVA shows they are vital to TVA’s work, hard to replace cheaply, and not needed for managing the Recreation Area. Using the agreed transfer process, the Secretary will put in writing which TVA items will move to the Secretary. TVA should, as much as possible, use current staff to help with the handover, like changing signs and logos, repainting vehicles, printing public information, and training new workers. Costs for that come from the transfer funding. Any personal property the Secretary finds too costly to manage may be declared excess and sold or otherwise disposed of under federal rules. Net money from those sales must go into the fund set up for this project.
