§460m–1 Acquisition of Lands, Easements, Etc.; Exchange of Lands; Consent of State; Reversion to State; Administrative Jurisdiction of Federal Lands or Waters

Summary

The Secretary can buy or otherwise get land and land rights inside the area set up or changed under the law. Scenic easements may only be taken with the landowner’s permission. Any farm parcel of 500 acres or less that borders the Current River or the Jacks Fork River must be taken whole unless the owner agrees to sell only part. Land gotten outside the mapped boundary can be traded for land of about equal value inside the boundary. Land or water owned by Missouri can be taken only with the State’s consent and can be returned to the State if it stays in use for the National Scenic Riverway. Federal land or water inside the area will be turned over to the Secretary to manage as part of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways without any money changing hands.
