§460m–1 Acquisition of Lands, Easements, Etc.; Exchange of Lands; Consent of State; Reversion to State; Administrative Jurisdiction of Federal Lands or Waters

Summary

The Secretary can buy or otherwise obtain land and interests in the area set under section 460m–3. Scenic easements may be taken only if the land or water owner agrees. Any parcel of up to five hundred acres that borders the Current River or the Jacks Fork River and is mainly used for farming must be bought whole unless the owner agrees to sell part. Land bought outside the mapped boundary can be traded for land of about equal value inside the boundary. Land or water owned by the State of Missouri can be acquired if the State agrees and may later return to the State if it keeps being used for the National Scenic Riverway. Federal land or water inside the area will be moved under the Secretary’s control, without money changing hands, to be run as part of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways when the area is established.
