§47d Acquisition of Certain Lands for Protection of Park Deer

Summary

Allows the Secretary of the Interior to trade land to protect deer along Yosemite’s western edge. The Secretary may buy by exchange about 1,350 acres now privately owned in township 3 south, range 20 east (including parts of sections 21 and 28 and sections 22–27) that lie between an old railroad grade near Chinquapin and the park boundary. Those acquired acres would be added to the park. In return, the Secretary may give full ownership of about 1,010 acres of government land to the private owner. Those government parcels are parts of sections in township 3 south, range 20 east (including section 25 and section 36), parts of section 32 in township 3 south, range 21 east, and the northwest quarter of section 5 in township 4 south, range 21 east. Those acres would be removed from the park when transferred.
