Title 16 › Chapter 73— RHINOCEROS AND TIGER CONSERVATION › § 5305a
No one may sell, import, or export, or try to sell, import, or export, any product people eat or put on their bodies if it contains, or is labeled or advertised as containing, any substance from any rhinoceros or tiger. A business that knowingly breaks this rule can be fined under title 18, jailed up to 6 months, or both. Civil fines up to $12,000 per violation may also be imposed and collected like penalties under section 11(a) of the Endangered Species Act (16 U.S.C. 1540(a)). Illegal items can be seized and forfeited to the United States. The Secretary will make rules after consulting Treasury, HHS, and the U.S. Trade Representative, enforcement will follow section 11(e) of the Endangered Species Act (16 U.S.C. 1540(e)), and money from fines or forfeitures must be used under section 3375(d) of this title.
