Land in and next to Inyo National Forest around Mono Basin in California is named the Mono Basin National Forest Scenic Area. The boundary is shown on a map called "Mono Basin National Forest Scenic Area," dated June 1983, map number 1983–3. That map is kept on file and open for the public to see at the Inyo National Forest Supervisor’s office and at the Forest Service Chief’s office in the Department of Agriculture. The Secretary of Agriculture can make small changes to the boundary, but must publish a notice in the Federal Register and notify the House Committee on Natural Resources and the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources at least 60 days before the change.
