§5608 Administrative Matters

Summary

People must not get paid by the government for serving as a Commissioner or Representative (including alternates), as an expert or adviser authorized under section 5601(e), or as a member of the consultative committee under section 5607. The Secretary of State must, if money is available, pay necessary travel and other expenses for the people in the first group and for up to six experts and advisers under section 5601(e) while they do official duties, in accordance with the Federal Travel Regulations and sections 5701, 5702, 5704–5708, and 5731 of title 5. Serving in these roles does not make a person a federal employee, except for injury compensation (chapter 81 of title 5) and tort claims liability (chapter 171 of title 28).
