Title 16 › Chapter 83A— CORAL REEF CONSERVATION, MANAGEMENT, AND ASSISTANCE › Subchapter III— SUSAN L. WILLIAMS NATIONAL CORAL REEF MANAGEMENT FELLOWSHIP › § 6481
Creates a National Coral Reef Management Fellowship run by the Secretary of Commerce, who must consult with the Secretary of the Interior. The program trains future coral reef leaders, provides covered States and covered Native entities with skilled candidates, and gives fellows real experience managing coastal and coral reef resources. Fellowships last no more than 2 years. Applicants must show intent and strong potential for a marine services career, leadership ability or experience, a college or graduate degree in biological science or resource management with relevant experience (or equivalent), good writing and speaking skills, and any other qualities the Secretaries find appropriate. Key terms: Alaska Native Corporation (see 43 U.S.C. 1602); fellow (a National Coral Reef Management Fellow); fellowship (the program); covered State, covered Native entity, and Native entity (defined elsewhere). Non‑Federal partners must pay 25 percent of fellowship costs unless the Secretary waives that share for a high‑priority project.
