Title 18 › Part I— CRIMES › Chapter 83— POSTAL SERVICE › § 1715
Pistols, revolvers, and other guns that can be hidden on a person must not be sent through the mail. There are exceptions under Postal Service rules: the mail may carry such guns to certain government or military officers, to law officers who serve warrants, to Postal and federal law-enforcement workers, to guards watching government property, and in normal trade shipments between firearm makers and licensed dealers (including for repair parts). If someone knowingly mails a concealed weapon in violation of these rules, they can be fined under federal law, jailed for up to two years, or both.
