Title 18 › Part I— CRIMES › Chapter 115— TREASON, SEDITION, AND SUBVERSIVE ACTIVITIES › § 2388
During a war, anyone who purposely spreads false information to hurt U.S. military operations or help the enemy, or who tries to make service members disobey orders, be disloyal, mutiny, refuse duty, or blocks recruiting, can be fined or put in prison for up to 20 years, or both. If two or more people plan those acts and at least one person takes a step to carry them out, everyone in the plan can get the same punishment. Anyone who hides or shelters a person they know or reasonably suspect has done or will do one of these crimes can be fined or jailed for up to 10 years, or both. The rule applies in the United States, in U.S. maritime areas, and on the high seas.
