If the government asks the court and shows that reasonable attempts to collect a fine probably won’t work, the court may do one of three things. It can cancel all or part of the unpaid fine, including any interest and penalties; delay payment to a later date or allow payments in installments; or extend a previously ordered due date or installment plan.
