A person who is not barred by federal law may move a firearm for a lawful reason from one place they can legally carry it to another, even if a state says otherwise, as long as the gun is unloaded and not easily reached from the passenger area. If the vehicle has no separate trunk, the gun or ammo must be in a locked container that is not the glove compartment or console.
