Title 2 › Chapter 5— LIBRARY OF CONGRESS › § 182e
Creates the Library of Congress National Collection Stewardship Fund in the U.S. Treasury for the Librarian of Congress. The Librarian may transfer available appropriations for the Library under the "Salaries and Expenses" heading into the Fund. Money in the Fund can be used to prepare Library materials for long-term storage or sent to the Architect of the Capitol to pay for preservation and storage facilities, including leases, under section 1823a. Funds stay available until spent. Within 180 days after each fiscal year the Librarian must report on the Fund to the Joint Committee on the Library and to the House and Senate Appropriations Committees. By six months after May 5, 2017 the Librarian had to provide a plan for the Fund’s first 5 fiscal years. Before any transfer into the Fund, the Librarian must notify those committees of the amount and source. Applies to fiscal year 2017 and later.
