Title 2 › Chapter 53— HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES MEMBERS › Subchapter III— EXPENSES AND ALLOWANCES › § 5346
Starting August 16, 1978, and until a later law changes it, House money can pay reasonable costs to send a Member’s official records and papers from Washington, D.C., to any place the Member picks in their district. The Chief Administrative Officer must pick the cheapest practical way to get the items there on time and in order. The Committee on House Oversight can make rules to carry this out. Member means a Representative, Delegate, or Resident Commissioner. Official records and papers means books, records, papers, and official files that could be sent as franked mail.
