The Secretary of the Senate must move money from a Majority or Minority Leader’s Representation Allowance into that Leader’s Expense Allowance if the Leader sends a written request. The Leader picks the amount and the transfer can be for any fiscal year beginning with the year that ends on September 30, 1985. Money moved this way can be spent that year for the same purposes and under the same rules as the Leader’s other expense allowance funds. Leader’s Representation Allowance — the account that holds the Representation Allowance for the Majority and Minority Leaders. Leader’s Expense Allowance — the yearly expense money a Leader can use and the appropriation account that funds it.
