The Secretary of the Senate may pay for official travel needed to do his job. He may also, at his choice, advance up to $1,000 to any designated employee who helps him to cover official travel costs. Those employees must quickly give a detailed voucher for their expenses and settle any advance. Payments must come from the appropriation "Miscellaneous Items" under the heading "Contingent Expenses of the Senate" and use vouchers approved by the Secretary.
