Title 20 › Chapter 28— HIGHER EDUCATION RESOURCES AND STUDENT ASSISTANCE › Subchapter III— INSTITUTIONAL AID › Part E— Minority Science and Engineering Improvement Program › Subpart 1— minority science and engineering improvement program › § 1067c
Money under this program can be given in four ways: institutional grants (for use by a whole school), cooperative grants (for joint work between schools), design projects (for planning and building new programs), or special projects (for focused activities). Institutional grants can pay for things like faculty development and new curriculum materials. Cooperative grants can help schools share people and facilities, spread information about science and engineering programs, support joint efforts to strengthen those programs, or do a mix of these. Design projects can pay for planning, management, and evaluation systems and for plans to start and improve scientific research. Special projects can fund things such as advanced seminars, faculty workshops and training, research on science education, visiting scientists, educational films or media, extra learning for minority undergraduates, pre‑college enrichment, or other activities that reduce barriers for minorities entering science.
