Defines key words used in this chapter. Board is the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. Center is the Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy at the University of Arizona, and includes the Native Nations Institute. Collaboration means working with others to resolve disputes, prevent issues that cause disputes, or make federal, state, or tribal environmental and resource decisions smoother. Eligible individual is a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or a lawful permanent resident. Environmental dispute is a disagreement about the environment, public lands, or natural resources. Foundation is the Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall Foundation. Institution of higher education has the meaning given in section 1001(a) of this title. National Center is the John S. McCain III National Center for Environmental Conflict Resolution. Nation’s parks and wilderness are units of the National Park System and parts of the National Wilderness Preservation System. Native Nations Institute is the Native Nations Institute for Leadership, Management, and Policy at the University of Arizona, established in 2001. State includes the several States, the District of Columbia, Guam, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Federal States of Micronesia, and the Republic of Palau (until the Compact of Free Association is ratified). Trust Fund is the Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall Trust Fund in section 5606.
