Title 20 › Chapter 72— MUSEUM AND LIBRARY SERVICES › Subchapter III— MUSEUM SERVICES › § 9175
Creates a program to grow and support a more diverse museum workforce. It focuses on three main goals: recruit and train students from diverse and underrepresented groups (including middle school, high school, and college students) for museum careers; help develop museum leaders through early- and mid-career training and leadership programs; and give current museum workers professional development so they can better serve their communities. The Director may use money provided under section 9176 to make grants, contracts, cooperative agreements, or other help to museums, museum groups, colleges (see section 9165(b)), and other partners. Funded projects can increase diverse student enrollment in museum programs, offer paid internships, mentoring, and fellowships to attract future professionals, build or improve training and retention programs (including regional networks and mid-career skill-building), and support research, pilots, and evaluations to find what works. The Director must set up rules to review and evaluate these arrangements.
