§9413 Local Administration

Summary

To get money under this program, a local government, tribe, Regional Corporation, or Native Hawaiian organization must set up or pick a Local Council. The Local Council must include people from local agencies that run early learning programs, parents, other community members who work on schooling, child care, or health, and other local leaders. If a group like this existed before December 21, 2000, it can be used instead. The council must prepare and send the program application. The council can spend no more than 3% of its funds on administration. It may pick a qualified group (including the State) to act as its fiscal agent to handle the grant money.
