Makes it a crime for any person, company, or their agents or employees to give, pay, or offer money or anything else of value to an inspector, deputy inspector, chief inspector, or any other U.S. officer or employee who carries out duties under this chapter or the Secretary’s rules, if the gift is meant to influence their official actions. A person convicted of this crime faces a felony charge, a fine of $5,000 to $10,000, and 1 to 3 years in prison. Also makes it a crime for those officers or employees to accept money, gifts, or anything of value from such persons if given to influence their official action. If the giver is a person or company doing business in commerce, any gift or money accepted at all is prohibited. An officer convicted of this crime will be fired immediately, face a felony charge, a fine of $1,000 to $10,000, and 1 to 3 years in prison.
