Federal inspection under subchapter I does not apply to places that slaughter cattle, sheep, swine, goats, horses, mules, or other equines, or that prepare their carcasses, when those animals are not meant for human food. Before being sold, transported, or imported, those carcasses or products must be denatured or marked as the Secretary's rules require, unless they are naturally inedible.
