§2347g Records Regarding Foreign Participants

Summary

The Secretary of Defense must create and keep a database of each foreign military or defense ministry civilian who takes part in training or education programs under this part after December 31, 2000. The records must show the kind of training, the dates, whether it was finished successfully, and, when possible, the person’s later military or ministry job, current position, and location. Each year, the Secretary of State may ask for information from that database about names the State Department submits for a report under section 2347h. The Defense Secretary must provide the available information when possible. If the Secretary of State tells Congress under section 2347h that someone in the database was involved in an internationally recognized human rights violation, the Secretary of Defense must update the database to record that fact and related details.
