Title 22 › Chapter 34— THE PEACE CORPS › § 2507d
Creates a Sexual Assault Advisory Council. The President must pick 8 to 14 people who are returned volunteers (including survivors) and government and non-government experts. At least one member must be a licensed mental health professional who has counseled sexual assault survivors in a victim services agency. No Peace Corps employee may serve. Government experts may not outnumber non-government experts. The Council must meet at least once a year to review sexual assault training and policy and may do case reviews. It can interview volunteers if they agree and can see volunteer surveys, restricted-reporting data, and other needed information, but not personal identifying details. For five years after November 21, 2011, it must send yearly reports to the President and to the Senate Committees on Foreign Relations and Appropriations and the House Committees on Foreign Affairs and Appropriations. Members are not federal employees and receive only travel and per diem under 5 U.S.C. 5703. Chapter 10 of title 5 does not apply. The Council ends on October 1, 2023.
