Title 22 › Chapter 38— DEPARTMENT OF STATE › § 2678
When a law allows a certain amount but less money is actually provided (including cuts from a sequestration under the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985 (Public Law 99–177; 2 U.S.C. 900 et seq.)), any portion of the authorized money set aside for a specific purpose must be cut by the same share. In plain terms, that set-aside is reduced by multiplying it by (amount provided ÷ amount authorized).
