Title 22 › Chapter 8— FOREIGN SERVICE BUILDINGS › § 300
The Secretary of State can sell, trade, lease, or license property or property interests used for U.S. diplomatic and consular offices in other countries or in the United States under section 4304(b)(5). The Secretary can accept payment in any form, including goods, for damage or loss to such property and its contents. The Secretary can also accept gifts of property or services for these purposes for the United States. Money or property received from those sales, payments, or gifts must be used to buy, build, or support things allowed by this chapter or put into the Foreign Service Buildings Fund, as the Secretary decides. The Secretary must report these transactions to Congress each year with the Department of State budget estimates. Proceeds from selling furniture, furnishings, and equipment from foreign posts must go into the Foreign Service Building Fund and be used as the Secretary directs.
