The Secretary must send a yearly report to Congress, every Bureau-funded school, and their tribal governments on education and any problems. The report must suggest ways to improve the Bureau schools (including more tribal or local Indian control) and must include the status of tribally controlled community colleges. The annual education budget request (under section 1105 of title 31) must include the plans required by sections 2001(c), 2002(c), and 2004(c). The Interior Department’s Inspector General must set up a system so each Bureau-operated school gets financial and compliance audits at least once every 3 years that check the local financial plan under section 2010. The Director must do a full evaluation of Bureau-run schools every 3 to 5 years, besides other reviews required by law.
