§3408 Job Creation Activities Authorized

Summary

Allows a tribal government to use program money to create jobs and build tribal or individual economic resources, if the work fits a regional economic plan that has a reasonable chance of succeeding and matches the program’s goals. Tribes may use some of their chapter funds for job creation, including private‑sector job training and placement under section 3409. The share a tribe can use is the larger of the local unemployment rate (but no more than 25%) or 10%. Only funds that come to the tribe from a federal agency by a law or official funding formula can be used this way.
