Lists short meanings of words used in the chapter. Bureau means the Bureau of Indian Affairs of the Department of the Interior. Courts of Indian Offenses are the courts set up under part 11 of title 25, Code of Federal Regulations. Indian tribe means tribes, bands, pueblos, and similar organized groups (including Alaska Native entities) that run justice and qualify for special federal programs. Judicial personnel means judges and other court workers. Office means the Office of Tribal Justice Support within the Bureau. Secretary means the Secretary of the Interior. Tribal organization means the entity in section 5304(l) of this title. Tribal justice system means the tribe’s whole judicial branch and dispute forums, including traditional methods, lower and appellate courts, alternative dispute resolution, and circuit rider systems.
