The director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons and each state agency that runs prisons must send the Secretary an electronic list by September 15, 2012, and every year after. The list must cover all people held any time in the prior two calendar years or in the current calendar year through August 31. Each inmate’s entry must include name, birth date, current or most recent prison, prison ID number, dates of incarceration, release or expected release, work‑release date, taxpayer ID and whether it was verified, last known address, and any other information the Secretary asks for. The Secretary will set the electronic format.
