Title 26 › Subtitle Subtitle F— Procedure and Administration › Chapter 77— MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS › § 7503
If a tax deadline lands on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, you are on time as long as you act by the next day that is not a weekend or holiday. The deadline counts any extension you were granted. A legal holiday means one in the District of Columbia, and for filings due at a government office outside D.C., it also includes a statewide holiday in that office's state.
