If a tax deadline falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, doing the required action on the next day that is not one of those days counts as on time. The deadline includes any approved extension. "Legal holiday" means holidays in the District of Columbia and, for filings at a federal office outside D.C. but inside an internal revenue district, it also means that State's statewide holidays.
